Afghan President Hamid Karzai offered Sunday to provide security for the Taliban’s reclusive leader if he agrees to enter peace talks, and said the U.S. and other Western nations could leave the country or oust him if they disagree.

Pakistan will not allow the United States to launch ground or air strikes on targets inside its territory and will take up the issue with the new US administration, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani told the National Assembly on Tuesday.
“The message of parliament is loud and clear, that Pakistani territory should not be used for terrorist activities and our sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected by all,” he said. The senators assured the prime minister of their full support in the US Senate for enhanced co-operation between the two countries and said US CENTCOM chief General David Petraeus would also plead Pakistan’s case before the US administration.

PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is reported to have held a meeting with former president Pervez Musharraf here on Friday.
The meeting, according to sources, came against the background of a discussion held on Thursday by a group of senior leaders of the PML-Q headed by Hamid Nasir Chattha on the issue of party leadership with Chaudhry Shujaat and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
Sources said a proposal to change the party leadership before the completion of the incumbent leaders’ tenure was discussed.
