Afghan President Hamid Karzai offered Sunday to provide security for the Taliban’s reclusive leader if he agrees to enter peace talks, and said the U.S. and other Western nations could leave the country or oust him if they disagree.
“If I hear from (Mullah Omar) that he is willing to come to Afghanistan or to negotiate for peace and for the well-being of the Afghans so that our children are not killed anymore, I as a president of Afghanistan will go to any length to provide protection,” Karzai told a news conference in Kabul.

The government on Saturday cut down petrol and diesel prices by Rs 10 and Rs 3 per litre respectively for passing on the benefit of lowering petroleum products’ rates in the global market to domestic consumers.
According to petroleum ministry sources, new maximum sale price of petrol is Rs. 66.66 and diesel Rs. 61.14.
There would be a reduction of Rs. 5 in the price of Kerosene oil and new prices would be effective from November 15, 2008.

It has been announced that consumers who will consume 100 to 450 units per month will get 13 percent discount in their next electricity bills. This relief will benefit domestic consumers up to 40 billion rupees.
